This week in insurance we are following new product launches, earnings announcements, 2020 hindsight. Here are the three things we learned this week:
- A pair of interesting product launches one from Chubb to embed a product into financial app looking to embed a unique A&H-like covers into a financial app. Lemonade launches term life, consistent with earlier described plans. The quote process is simple but the cost was nearly double compared to a traditional insurer with a more complex quote process (personal experience).
- Earnings season brings news from Travelers highlighted by record-setting Q4 net income and other strong results. Chubb will announce on 2/4 and we will be tuning in to their update and other carriers to see how 2020 shaped up and get a feel for 2021 momentum and the economic recovery.
- And finally as more of the 2020 becomes clearer in the rearview mirror we found a very good summary on the regulatory developments in insurance with COVID and insurtech innovation among other topics. Also a final tally of the M&A activity in the broker space reveals a record breaking number of deals, with Acrisure and Marsh leading but other less well known players making waves.
As always we appreciate your support and continue following. Keep looking out for updates and feel free to reach out with feedback on topics you would like to hear more about.
